We want to see the diverse world we live in reflected in the podcast charts. By creating space for new storytellers to emerge and arming them with the training, support and opportunities they need to build a lasting career, we hope to drive meaningful change in the audio space.
Launched in 2018, Sound Up is now active in 12 countries and counting, and has helped hundreds of creators from underrepresented backgrounds get their feet – and mics – in the door. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
It begins with a great idea. And grows from there. We invite up to ten creators to join us for each program event. Through a mix of in person training and virtual sessions, you’ll learn how to workshop your ideas, hone your storytelling and produce the kind of content our listeners love. You’ll then continue to receive year-round support as you produce your pilot episode. If we like what we hear - and we often do - we’ll pick it up as a Spotify Original podcast.
Being a Sound Up podcaster isn’t an empty title. Many grads have gone on to release shows that have ranked high on the Spotify podcast charts. Dope Labs, Search Engine Sex, You Heard Me Write, FOGO: Fear of Going Outside - all these shows started with Sound Up. And all were produced by diverse creators who have since built themselves an awesome career in the industry.
Listen to the top shows created by our alumni and loved by our listeners.
